Blue Stone Bar & Grill

Hungry for a sweet coconut shrimp salad?  Thirsty for a fresh mojito?  Then head on out to Blue Stone!

The Blue Stone Bar and Grill is the project of Doug Gruen, chef/owner and his wife Nancy, proprietor. The Blue Stone opened its doors in August of 2005, deriving the name from the actual bar inside, which proudly boasts a beautiful blue stone surface. Visitors enjoy gourmet entrees that please even the most discriminating palate, an array of intriguing martinis and mixed drinks, and live music that just adds to the casual class of the eclectic setting.

The Blue Stone is conveniently located on 110 Aurora St. in Ithaca, NY bordering the Ithaca Commons. The restaurant is illuminated at night by the bright neon sign, which casts a befitting blue glow down on the store front. During the day the bright blue paint around the windows sets it apart from everything close, making it difficult to not take a peek inside.

A little taste of one review:  "Ambling down North Aurora Street, it's hard to miss the Blue Stone Bar and Grill with its startling blue-lighted façade, the most recent glittering addition to the street's culinary circus. Douglas Gruen, a Culinary Institute of America graduate who's knocked about starred restaurants in New York City and, more recently, in Santa Cruz, Calif., and his wife, pastry chef Nancy Gruen, came to Ithaca in search of a sensible place to raise a family and run a business. Since arriving here, they have kept the local quarry and neon-sign makers busy.

The focus of Blue Stone's dining room is an impressive bluestone-topped bar.  But its what's on the bar (and on the plates!)  that makes Blue Stone Bar & Grill a favorite Downtown Ithaca bar and grill.
