Ithaca is located in the Finger Lakes Region of central New York. Ithaca is four hours from New York City, three hours from Niagara Falls and Buffalo, two hours from Rochester, one hour from Syracuse, and four hours from Philadelphia.
Ithaca is located at the southern tip of Cayuga Lake and is the seat of Tompkins County. Tompkins County, as of the 2010 census, has a population of 101,000.
Ithaca is known for its spectacular waterfalls and gorges, thus the slogan "Ithaca is Gorges." Home to Cornell University and Ithaca College, Ithaca offers residents and visitors a unique combination of small-town life and aspects of a larger metropolitan area.
