SUMMARY:27th annual Greater Ithaca Art Trail Open Studio Weekends
DESCRIPTION:Go on an adventure through gorgeous fall foliage with multiple artist studios as your destination! \nThe Greater Ithaca Art Trail\, a program of the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County\, is hosting two Open Studio Weekends. \nOn October 11th\, 12th and 18th\, 19th\, 30 fine artists across Tompkins County will open their studios to you! \nVisitors can gather their art loving family and friends and enjoy a drive through our beautiful Tompkins County roads with artist studios as destinations. There’s no fee\, and no appointments needed. Just a wonderful adventure with great art and great conversations. \nREGISTRATION IS REQUESTED (so we can keep visitors up to date) and there are three ways to enter into two different RAFFLES with over 27 chances to win art or offers donated by participating artists or gift cards. \nYou’ll meet painters\, illustrators\, photographers\, sculptors\, printmakers\, and potters. You’ll see wood turning\, wood carving\, calligraphy\, parquetry\, gourd art\, fine jewelry\, and kiln formed glass. \nThe artists will be thrilled to share their passion for their art making and show off what they’ve been working on. \nWe love this quote from a 2024 visitor who said\, “I was blown away by the quality of the art that I saw and the really cool art studios. And I didn’t expect all the wonderful conversations I had with the artists. The Art Trail is such a unique and special event. And when you combine visiting such great artists with the beauty of the area\, this is definitely going to be an annual event for me and I’ll be sure to bring heaps of friends each year!” \nThose who are on a quest to buy art (holiday presents!) will find prices ranging from $10 to $5\,000 and everything in between. Purchasing art can be an exhilarating experience and connecting with the artist is part of that experience. Many of the artists are offering demos and incentives. \nYOU’LL NEED THE PDF list of who is open\, with printable maps. Not all artists on the Trail are open\, and each artist is open on different days\, so you definitely need that list! \nVisit ArtTrail.com. You find the PDF list/map on the event page\, plus artist profile pages and more. ENJOY! \nQuestions: Robin Schwartz\, Community Arts Partnership Program Director. Info@artspartner.org \nCAP thanks our Art Trail business sponsors: P.W. Wood & Son\, Harris Beach Murtha\, Attorneys at Law\, Cornell University\, and our media sponsors: WSKG and The Route WITH Radio. Additional funding form the Tompkins County Tourism Program. \nThe Art Trail is a program of the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County. For over 32 years\, “CAP” has been a driving force behind the vibrant arts community of Ithaca and Tompkins County. SUMMARY:Generative Spiral Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Buffalo Street Books for a series of workshops with nicole v. basta. SUMMARY:Art Opening at MIX Art Gallery! "First Light" by Basil Bakhshi Opening Reception Friday\, Nov. 11th from 5-8PM
DESCRIPTION:This November 2025\, MIX Art Gallery presents First Light by Basil Bakhshi. Born in war-torn Pakistan\, Bakhshi lived on the streets until adoption brought him into a world of stability and creative possibility. Those beginnings left an enduring imprint on his vision\, one that recognizes tension and resilience as essential parts of beauty. \nNow based in New York’s Finger Lakes\, Bakhshi draws inspiration from the region’s shifting light and tranquil landscapes. His work spans oil painting and ceramics\, guided by the Japanese concept of shibumi: an unpretentious\, balanced beauty that reveals itself through simplicity and depth. His art carries the rawness of experience while offering stillness and reflection. \nBakhshi’s plein-air oil painting\, awarded Best in Show in French Alezum\, Pennsylvania\, affirmed his commitment to painting directly from life. In First Light\, he exhibits alongside his partner\, Billie Bakhshi\, whose debut features lively\, affordable works that radiate warmth and joy. Together\, their practices explore contrast and harmony; two expressions of a shared pursuit to find beauty in the everyday. \nTo celebrate the exhibition\, Basil Bakhshi is offering a complimentary “Abstract Portrait” with the purchase of any work. “Each color becomes a heartbeat\, each line a whisper of presence\,” he explains. “Through abstraction\, I reveal memory\, mood\, and the inner rhythm of being.” \nMIX Art Gallery is open Thursdays and Fridays from 3 -7 PM\, and Saturdays from 12 -6 PM\, at 156 E. State St. on the Ithaca Commons. Visit www.mixartgallery.com or shop online at https://www.mixartgallery.com/shop-artists.
