DESCRIPTION:America in the mid-1980s. In the midst of the AIDS crisis and a conservative Reagan administration\, six New Yorkers with interconnected lives grapple with life and death\, love and sex\, heaven and hell. \nTheatre Incognita is proud to present Tony Kushner’s ANGELS IN AMERICA\, PT. 1: MILLENNIUM APPROACHES in collaboration with Kitchen Theatre Company’s Kitchen Sink Series. \nPerformances are at 7 pm Friday & Saturday\, March 27 & 28\, 2 pm Sunday March 29\, and 7pm Wednesday April 1 – Saturday April 4\, with a closing matinee Sunday April 5 at 2 pm. kitchentheatre.org for tickets \nKushner’s epic two-part drama about AIDS\, queer life\, national politics\, and so much more\, received the 1993 Pulitzer\, as well as the Tony Award for Best Play (as did its 2017 revival). Widely perceived as one of the greatest plays of the later 20th century\, in it’s still young 35 year history\, Angels continues to astonish and reverberate. \nIncognita’s cast is led by Seth Koproski as Prior Walter\, Daniel S. Baruch as Louis\, Eric Hambury as Joe\, Elizabeth Seldin as Harper\, Erik Lucas as Roy Cohn\, McDonald Morris as Belize\, Karen Veaner as Hannah/Ethel Rosenberg\, and Meg Elliott as the Angel and others. Completing the cast are local favorites G-Quan Booker\, Lindsey Cahoon\, Cortney “CJ” Johnson\, and Andrew Hertzberg. \nArtistic Director Ross Haarstad stages the production\, joined by Oliver Canales Greenwood as Scenic and Lighting Designer\, Sarah Marks Bechtel as Costume Designer and Zeke A.B. Lawrence as Sound Designer. Priscilla Hummel serves as Intimacy Director.

DESCRIPTION:A single mother raising two children in the Depression dreams of a Southern gentility long vanished. A sensitive daughter wraps herself up in a world of glass and old records. The son\, a budding artist\, longs to flee the constrictions of a crowded working-class apartment and a dead-end job. Into their lives drops a ‘gentleman caller’ —“the long-delayed but always expected something that we live for.” \nTheatre Incognita concludes its spring 2024 season with performances of Tennessee Williams’ immortal THE GLASS MENAGERIE at the Community School of Music and Arts in downtown Ithaca. \nKristin Sad takes on the iconic role of the mother\, Amanda. Jonah Hirst plays her son\, Tom; Kylie Schultz plays the daughter\, Laura; and AJ Sage plays Jim O’Connor\, their ’gentleman caller.’ \nEvening performances are at 7 pm\, Friday & Saturday May 3–4\, and Thursday through Saturday May 9-11. SUMMARY:MACBETH presented by Theatre Incognita
DESCRIPTION:Playgoers can experience Shakespeare’s brilliant blend of horror\, magic and tyranny\, MACBETH (March 15–17 and 21–24) at downtown Ithaca’s Community School of Music and Arts when Theatre Incognita returns to live\, in-person theatre. \nRoss Haarstad\, Incognita’s Artistic Director\, stages an intimate\, multi-media production in CSMA’s recently refurbished Hamblin Hall. With the assistance of Costume Designer Elizabeth Kitney\, he is setting the play in a re-imagined Scotland\, a war-torn country at the turn of the last century\, where refugees seek solace. \nKeir Neuringer has composed original music for the play\, while Jacob Lehman has designed the fight choreography. \nTwenty-two actors\, ranging in age from 12 to 72\, take on Shakespeare’s myriad roles. Barb Geary plays the warrior and tyrant Macbeth\, while Meg Elliott takes on his ambitious wife\, Lady Macbeth. \nThe Weird Sisters are played by Elizabeth Livesay\, Marie Sirakos and Samantha Sloma. In this version\, their Familiars are adopted orphans\, portrayed by three younger actors: Griffin Brahler\, Hugo Lloyd and Lochi Nunn-Makepeace. \nAJ Sage takes on Macduff\, Elizabeth Seldin is Malcolm\, Cortney Johnson is Banquo and Scott Whitham is Duncan. Completing the cast are Beth Harris\, Casey Silidjian\, Dave Dietrich\, Gwen Livesay\, Jared Lane\, Lindsey Cahoon\, Mikaela Gould\, Moira Lang\, Oliver Moss and Tamar Shapiro-Tamir. \nTickets available through theatreincognita.org. \nThis program is made possible in part with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant program from the New York State Council on the Arts\, with the support of the office of the Governor and NYS Legislature\, administered by the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County.
