Downtown Ithaca is Encouraging Shopping Local on Saturday, November 25th and throughout the Holiday Season.
Date: November 25, 2017 – November 25, 2017
WHY SHOP LOCAL?
Small Business Saturday was started by American Express seven years ago so that small business could have its day. Big retailers have Black Friday and online retailers have Cyber Monday, so Small Business Saturday is a way to educate consumers about shopping locally and to have an impact on the small business bottom line, kick starting the holiday season. Downtown Ithaca has over 100 independent, locally owned stores and businesses to choose from. By shopping or dining locally on Saturday, November 25th and for the holidays, patrons can show their support for local businesses and for our community.
When money is spent at independent locally owned business the money stays here. Local businesses donate more, and the owners and managers live and pay taxes here, strengthening the economic base of where we live. Plus the one-of-a-kind businesses contribute to the character of our community with unique shopping and dining options.
