Busking for Justice Welcomes The Makers November 7 at Café Dewitt
Monthly concert series continues raising funds for immigrants facing deportation
ITHACA, NY — The Busking for Justice concert series continues Friday, November 7, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. at Café Dewitt in downtown Ithaca’s Dewitt Mall, featuring a performance by The Makers — the dynamic duo of Lydia Garrison and Nate Silas Richardson.
Drawn together by a shared passion for the music of Mali, West Africa, The Makers blend vocals, fiddle, banjo, and various guitars into a distinctive and heartfelt sound. Their original songs trace the triumphs and challenges of life’s winding path, combining lyrical depth with intricate musicianship that defies easy categorization.
This performance marks the third concert in the Busking for Justice series, which raises funds for legal aid and bail assistance for immigrants impacted by the threat of deportation.
“Busking for Justice is about more than music — it’s about compassion and solidarity,” said principal organizer Jayne Demakos. “Each act of generosity, whether from the performers or the audience, reflects our community’s commitment to fairness and the right to due process.”● When: Friday, November 7 | 5:30–7:00 p.m.
