Join us in celebrating the launch of a new book by local educator Alicia Swords, professor of sociology at Ithaca College. Social Change: Movements, Politics, and Technology (SAGE, 2025) explores social transformation in historical and contemporary episodes, centering the lives and struggles of the poor and dispossessed as agents of their own liberation and offering powerful lessons for today’s social movements. Alicia will share brief excerpts from the text and will be joined in conversation by local engaged scholar Richard Kiely.
