Join us Friday, August 7th for an evening celebrating the power of art and music to bring people together.

From 5–8 PM, explore the work of Angel Hernandez, whose mixed-media exhibition is deeply influenced by his Puerto Rican heritage, New York roots, street art, music, and contemporary culture. His bold, layered work tells stories of identity, community, and resilience through a uniquely personal lens.

Then from 8-9 PM, stay and dance to live salsa music with K Chévere in Room K.

K Chévere was formed right here at K-HOUSE as part of our mission to help fill cultural gaps in Ithaca by creating opportunities for musicians to connect and collaborate. While Ithaca has had salsa bands in the past, there isn’t currently an active local salsa band despite the incredible talent in our community. We wanted to help bring that tradition back.

The band’s name has a special meaning. It plays on the Spanish phrase “¡Qué Chévere!” which reflects the joy, energy, and spirit of salsa and the band’s vision of celebrating the rich music and dance traditions of Latin America. “K” honors both K-HOUSE and Room K, where the project was born.
