Guided Tour of P.L.A.C.E. in Ithaca

Join us as we explore stories of our P.L.A.C.E. (People, Land, Architecture, Culture, Enterprise) in the history of Ithaca. This tour is an excellent introduction to many facets of local community, intriguing personalities, and historic sites downtown.

This one-hour walking tour is led by Alan Cohen, a docent at The History Center in Tompkins County.

All tours will meet in the atrium of the Tompkins Center for History & Culture (110 N Tioga St) on the Ithaca Commons.

ACCESSIBILITY – This guided tour is wheelchair and mobility device friendly! The tour traverses 0.4 miles of flat paved surfaces in Downtown Ithaca. The tour will be presented in English. If you have other questions please explore thehistorycenter.net/accessibility or contact us.

CANCELLATION POLICY – This program supports educational programming from The History Center. We are unable to accommodate cancellations or refund ticket prices made less than two days in advance as we depend on these funds, however if you contact us 24 hours in advance we are happy to re-schedule to any of our other walking tours this summer (thehistorycenter.net/tours).

WEATHER POLICY – If there is inclement weather predicted for the day of the tour, we will decide by 9am the morning of the tour whether to cancel or go ahead. If the tour is cancelled we will offer a later rain date to all registrants or refund your ticket price in full.

COVID-19 POLICY – The History Center will follow the most up to date guidance from the Tompkins County Health Department. Our organization is a mask friendly space and encourage visitors to practice what is most comfortable to them regarding mask wearing. Learn more at thehistorycenter.net/health.
