Welcome Student Weekend Welcome Student Weekend

Welcome Student Weekend brings Cornell University, Ithaca College and Tompkins Cortland Community College students downtown

Welcome Student Weekend returns to Downtown Ithaca, Saturday, Sept. 5th, 2020 for CU Downtown.

Downtown Ithaca will partner with Cornell University, Ithaca College, TC3 and the Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT) to host the 5th Annual Student Welcome Student Weekend, a special weekend event created combining CU Downtown & IC & TC3 Downtown Day into a two-day celebration.

Welcome Student Weekend is Downtown Ithaca’s way of sharing a bit about who we are with new and returning students, to help them feel welcome and comfortable in their home over the next few years.

Downtown has a lot to offer students in the way of shops, restaurants, services, art & culture, and entertainment for students to feel at home in their new town.

CU Downtown – September 5th, 2020 – 1:00-5:00pm

IC & TC3 Downtown Day – TBD

Downtown Ithaca welcomes CU Downtown on Saturday, September 5th, 1pm - 5:00pm

CU Downtown is Day One of Downtown Ithaca's Welcome Student Weekend celebration. CU Downtown is a free, family-friendly event, and everyone is invited: new students, returning students, and the whole Ithaca community.

Experience Cornell Bhangra, the Absolute Zero Breakdance Club, CU Jazz Voices, Yamatai, the Big Red Marching and Pep Bands, and many other a cappella, instrumental, and dance groups in this third annual event.

CU Downtown gives students and locals a rare opportunity to see diverse student performers all afternoon at the Bernie Milton Pavilion in Bank Alley. Bring the kids! Bring the whole family! Cornell alums are invited to wear university gear and welcome in the school year and our newest students.

In addition to the performances, students are invited to check out open house activities, samples, and special deals inside shops throughout Downtown Ithaca, as well as take part in the annual scavenger hunt with great prizes from downtown businesses. As supplies are limited, students must present their IDs at businesses to participate in the scavenger hunt.

TCAT will provide additional buses on regular routes between campus and downtown.  Details closer to event.
