WE ARE LA VOZ: RESILIENCE THROUGH ART – OPENING RECEPTION
🗓️ Friday, May 2nd | ⏰ 5–9 PM | 📍 115 S Cayuga St, Ithaca

Join us for the opening of We Are La Voz: Resilience Through Art, a vibrant and powerful group exhibition showcasing the work of Latine artists using textile arts as a form of resistance, storytelling, and cultural memory. Curated by Yen Ospina through her Nomadic Gallery, this month-long pop-up exhibition at Orozco Gallery Ithaca celebrates fiber practices that uplift identity, heritage, and healing.

From embroidery and felting to weaving and quilting, each artist explores the power of thread and fabric as tools of transformation and testimony. This exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Latino Civic Association and Cornell’s Rural Humanities Grant.

The opening reception will feature Puerto Rican and Salvadoran cuisine by @jojocook and refreshing non-alcoholic drinks from @openspaces. Attendees will have the chance to meet the artists, connect with the community, and experience the stories woven into each piece.

Participating artists include Rudy Estela Posada Mazo (Movimiento Rios Vivos), Hilos de Vicky, Pilar Gutierrez, Ju Quaresma (Viva Acres), Loreto Molina (Painting Mujeres), Gabriella Evergreen, Sarah Lopez, Yessica Martinez, Haydee Borrero (Sheepy Hollow), Andrea Zarazúa, Natalia Santamaria, Dorelly Johanna Villareal Martínez & Luisa Arroyo, Bevi, and Yen Ospina.

✨ Artist talks and community workshops will take place throughout May. Made possible by Yen Ospina & her nomadic Orozco Gallery, Latino Civic Association, Cornell Rural Humanities grant.
