A Downtown Growing

The Green Street Parking Garage reopened fall of 2022. Monthly parking passes are available for purchase from the City Chamberlain’s Office!

As part of the garage reconstruction, the parking facility now offers several new features including vehicle counters that will track the number of vehicles parked in the garage at any given time. This new electronic feature will allow people looking to park a vehicle to see how many parking spaces are available in the garage.

While neighboring construction remains active, six of the seven floors of parking are open for public use. Upon completion, a total of 334 spaces of parking will be available in the rebuilt section of the garage streets.

The other portions of the developments including two towers with housing and a conference center are expected to open later in 2022/23.

Asteri Project Update

March 6, 2023

March 24, 2022

Over the next few weeks, you will see some changes in the west parking / access area. The short planter in front of city hall will be removed, the ramp and sidewalk will remain in place.  The access and parking spaces will be re-arranged, and once it is generally set the team's project manager will be onsite to walk through the final placement of parking and the area will receive a temporary new surface treatment and striping. This is in preparation for drilling the pile foundations and setting a tower crane on the west side of the new building. A diagram is attached below, to be finalized by mid-April.

Last significant concrete pour to the garage is scheduled for Feb. 10th.  This will top-off the garage levels expansion.  Utility work underway within the structure, wall surfaces and stairway installation to commence in coming weeks.

Utility work at the Home Dairy Alley is taking longer than expected due to unforeseen issues at this central node of utility connection for the development site.  Construction team & utilities are working diligently to finish the work underground and replace concrete sidewalk.

They are expecting to re-connect the Alternate Route pathway between Harold and Home Dairy Alley by Feb. 14th.   Access to Cinemapolis and back of Center Ithaca will remain Emergency Egress Only until otherwise noted.  See signage and detour signs at the right.  Detour signs are at Home Dairy Alley and Crosswalk at Green Street.  Cinemapolis is accessible via the Green Street crosswalk.

Ithaca Project Update:  A mass concrete pour is planned for Thursday, Feb. 3 and Thursday Feb. 11th.  Substantial movement of concrete trucks in and out of construction zone is expected.  Back-up alarms from trucks and increased traffic at Green Street likely to occur throughout the day.  Tower crane expected to arrive and be erected starting Friday, Feb. 4th.

About the Projects

This project comes in combination with the Asteri Project being developed by the Vecino Group and the Ithacan Project being developed by Ithaca Properties.

The Vecino Group will develop the western and central section of the garage rebuild, while Ithaca Properties will complete the eastern section of the build.

Together, these two projects will result in the construction of two 11- story buildings, with 181 permanently affordable living units above a community conference center on the western side and  200 market-rate apartments on the eastern section.
