JANUARY UPDATES
January 3-25, 2022
Asteri Project Update: The pedestrian intersection at the south end of Home Dairy Alley will be closed for a short period of time starting 1/5/22 while utility work is underway. It is anticipated it will take a couple of weeks to complete this work. See signage and detour signs at the right. These detour signs will also be placed at Home Dairy Alley and Crosswalk at Green Street. Cinemapolis will be accessible via the Green Street crosswalk.
Ithaca Project Update: Phase I of the project has been completed and moving into Phase II: columns and footings. Activity level and noise to remain largely the same. Phase II is expected to complete around the end of January and a crane for the next phase will start to be erected end of January/first week of February.
DECEMBER UPDATES
December 22 Asteri Project UPDATE
Monday, December 27, will start East Side Phase 2 of the utility relocation work in front of the Cinemapolis. During this period of time, the entry to the movie theater will shift back to being accessed from the south using the crosswalk on Green Street. Access from the north (The Commons) will be blocked. The attached signs will be posted at the north end of Home Dairy Alley and on the south side of Green Street Crosswalk.
December 7 Update:
Asteri Project Update:
While permission has been granted by the city to start work ahead of first light one morning per week (see below), this has not yet commenced. Eastside of Vecino project to start in coming weeks. Pedestrian re-routes at Cinemapolis is expected. New maps will be posted at the construction site and online.
NYSEG work near City Hall to be completed around Dec. 24.
The City of Ithaca granted special permission to the Asteri Project for the following:
Request: Permission to begin concrete pours at ‘first light’ and to mobilize 30-45 minutes earlier, one day a week for eight weeks. Currently, the first light is at 6:45 a.m. but will become increasing later through November and December.
Expected Noise: Mobilization will involve crane hoisting, truck maneuvering ( but no backing up alarms), and drill running – noise should be similar to garbage trucks. Once pours begin, there will be backup alarms from concrete trucks every 10-15 minutes.
Schedule: Estimated first instance Monday 11/22/21 and Monday 11/29/21. [Rescheduled to 12-2-21] Need some flexibility with schedule as it is dependent on weather conditions – but would be no more than once a week.

The Ithacan Project Updates:
– Currently 1/3 of the way through timeline. Scope of work largely to remain the same through 12/22/21. While permission has been granted by the City for some work to be completed infrequently on Saturdays, this has not been needed. Any work completed on Saturday is largely clean up and prep work for during the week.
