Board of Directors Meetings at the Downtown Ithaca Alliance

The Downtown Ithaca Alliance board meets regularly every second Monday of the month at 6:00 pm, unless otherwise specified.

Board meetings take place via Zoom.  A link to attend is provided in the schedule below. Board meetings are open to the public to view and attend, however public Q&A is restricted to specific portions of the meeting as noted on the agenda.

    Public Meetings


    Downtown Ithaca Local Development Corporation Board

    The DILDC will host a meeting every month on the third Tuesday of the month, beginning at 10 a.m.

    Committees at the Downtown Ithaca Alliance 

    Business Retention & Development (BRD)

    The BRD committee provides guidance and insights into the organization’s efforts to both retain and attract business and investment. The committee occasionally works with staff on targeted recruitment trips and as appropriate, serves as a body to oversee special programs (Main Street grant selection, Race for the Race selection). The committee consists of interested business owners, landlords, lenders, and economic development professionals.

    Meets:  First Friday of every month (9:00 am @ the DIA or virtually via zoom) 

    Retail 

    The Retail Committee at the Downtown Ithaca Alliance was formed in 2022 to further promote, guide, support, and assist businesses in the Business Improvement District with the direct engagement of stakeholders who focus on retail.  The committee is tasked with specific goals within their jurisdiction of ground floor commercial tenancy including in-store promotions, connections to increase community well-being, and strategic planning for support programs to assist entrepreneurship downtown. The committee consists of retailers and all ground floor BID product-based businesses are welcome to attend.

    Meets:  Third Wednesday, bi-monthly starting in February. Meeting virtually on Zoom as of January 2022.

    Downtown Operations

    The Operations Committee provides guidance and oversight to the programs and projects of the DIA that pertain to Downtown operations. This includes clean and hospitality ambassadors, safety and security, homelessness and drug policies, banners and outdoor decorations, holiday decorations, and public art. The committee consists of interested businesses, office and professional representatives, and city government reps.

    DIA staff: Terel Marshburn, Nan Rohrer and Galen Morehead 

    Meets: Third Wednesday, 9am bi-monthly starting in January. Meeting virtually or in-person at the DIA office as of January 2023.

    Marketing Oversight

    The Marketing Oversight Committee provides guidance and feedback to DIA staff regarding the organization’s marketing and promotion initiatives. The committee reviews plans for future initiatives as well as critiques recent promotions and marketing activities. The committee also suggests ideas for future consideration. The committee consists of business owners and representatives working in marketing.

    Meets: Quarterly 

    Special Events

    The Special Events Committee provides oversight, monitoring and brainstorming for the special events side of the DIA organization. The committee reviews plans for future events and evaluates the performance of recently occurring events. The committee also deals with event policies. The committee consists of business owners, event organizers, and nonprofit leaders.

    Meets: Quarterly

    Transportation

    The Transportation Committee provides the organization with thought and guidance on transportation and parking-related policy and programming. The committee oversees the DIA’s interests in TDM as well as municipal parking policy. The committee helps the DIA develop policy and insights into the many downtown transportation and parking related issues and items. The committee consists of transportation providers, local government officials, and downtown businesses.

    Meets: 4-6 Times/year

    Finance 

    The Finance Committee meets monthly to review in detail the financial reports of the organization, including monthly balance sheets, P&Ls, budgets, and any potential conflict of interests. The committee consists of the Treasurer, bookkeeper, DIA staff, and other interested individuals.

    Meets: 2nd Friday each month at 9:30 am at the DIA or virtually via zoom.

    Ad Hoc 

    The DIA occasionally creates special, ad hoc committees to undertake specific tasks and to review specific issues. There is an annual nominating committee, plus there have been committees devoted to strategic planning, retail, and other topics. Check with the DIA for details.

    Executive 

    The DIA Executive Committee consists of the officers of the organization. The body meets monthly prior to Board meetings to review monthly progress with the Executive Director, discuss key organization issues and policies, and serve as the personnel committee for the organization.

    Meets: 1st Friday at 10:30AM.

    Board of Directors

    Governance of the DIA is vested in its Board of Directors. This elected board consists of 27 individuals representing property owners, business tenants, public officials, and residential tenants. There are also ex officio representatives from Cornell University, Ithaca College, TC3, and the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce/CVB. The Board sets policy, approves an annual budget and work plan, reviews the Executive Director, and provides fiscal and fiduciary oversight. Members are typically elected at the April annual meetings to rotating three year terms.

    Meets: Meets 2nd Monday each month at 6PM at the DIA or on Zoom.

    Committee and Board meetings are open to the public and interested downtown parties are cordially invited.
