Public asked to offer input on the proposed redesign plan

TCAT is hosting a virtual open house on Tues., May 25, so the public may weigh in on a proposed system redesign as TCAT moves toward finalizing its Transit Development Plan (TDP) 2020-2021.

County residents, including both riders and non-riders, are encouraged to participate in either an afternoon or evening session to get an overview of the draft produced by TCAT’s TDP consulting firm, Sam Schwartz. Over the past several months, consultants worked with TCAT staff to create a draft plan that includes route re-alignments, frequency adjustments, and other changes intended to improve TCAT service. The TDP process started last fall with phase one of the public engagement process that asked participants to identify what they want and need from their local transit system. Phase two starts with the open house and will extend through June to include soon-to-be-announced focus group sessions, surveying, and one-on-one meetings with TCAT transit ambassadors https://tcatbus.com/transit-development-plan-2020-2021/tdp-ambassadors/ A final plan will be presented to the TCAT Board of Directors for its consideration and approval later this summer.

Additionally, an online transit planning tool will soon be available with the draft plan to allow participants to review and provide feedback on their own time. Stay tuned for updates at: https://tcatbus.com/transit-development-plan-2020/news-updates/

TCAT conducted its last TDP in 2009, which resulted in a number of service changes that went into effect in January 2010 to include more streamlined routes and the addition of interlined routes or “one-seat rides.” Adhering to an industry-wide best practice, the majority of U.S. public transit agencies undertake a TDP process generally every 10 years.
