Meet Awura-Abena Ansah at Alta Spa

Alta Spa Owner

ALTA SPA IS OWNED AND OPERATED BY AWURA-ABENA ANSAH, A LICENSED ESTHETICIAN AND COSMETOLOGIST.

Alta Spa is Ithaca’s first day spa and a full-service salon and has been part of the downtown community since 1999.

The day spa, owned and operated by Awura-Abena Ansah, a licensed aesthetician, and cosmetologist, offers a full range of skincare and hair removal services, including facials, body treatments, toning, eyelash extensions, hair and nail treatments, and massage. Specialized techniques such as “sugaring” (hair removal using a sugar paste) and “microdermabrasion” (using tiny crystals to polish the skin) are also available at the spa. And in recent years, Ansah added a boutique that features top-of-line skincare products, jewelry, colorful scarves, stylish hats, and other accessories.

“Opening a business in downtown Ithaca is a dream come true, and to still be in business more than 20 years later is pure joy. I love performing services that help people improve their appearance and make them feel good about themselves. When I see a smile on a client’s face after I perform a service on them, that makes me extremely happy,” says Ansah, who moved to Ithaca from Canada.

Ansah constantly educates herself on the newest skincare techniques to ensure her clients receive the best service. She regularly meets with industry-leading experts while attending skincare conventions in major cities across the country and abroad.
