DIA, TCAD, City, Visit Ithaca, Tompkins Chamber, Department of Health partner with a local PR firm on health and safety message
ITHACA, NY JUNE 23, 2020 — The Downtown Ithaca Alliance (DIA), Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, Tompkins County Area Development, Ithaca/Tompkins County Convention and Visitors Bureau, City of Ithaca, and the Tompkins County Health Department have partnered with Flair Strategic Communications to create a public service video that places a local spin on the wearing a mask during the COVID pandemic.
The 30-second video consists of a montage of photographs showing locals wearing their masks while visiting community landmarks and popular scenic sites around the county while City of Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick delivers an educational message that stresses the importance of mask-wearing in public. The message builds on Tompkins County’s and Ithaca’s ongoing efforts to protect residents and visitors and slow the spread of COVID. A second, longer version of the video is also in the works and will be out shortly.
You can view and share the informative video message found at https://youtu.be/hkc2WTE1Iro.
The partners in this initiative recognize that it will take a community-wide effort to continue to safely reopen the community. Tompkins County is currently in Phase 3 of the NY Forward reopening. As part of the phased reopenings, people over the age of 2 are required to wear a mask or another type of facial covering while visiting businesses and popular attractions in the county. In May, Gov. Andrew Cuomo approved an executive order authorizing businesses to deny entry to individuals who do not wear masks or face-coverings.
