Foodie experience showcases multiple $5 samplers & sips at downtown Ithaca restaurants, eateries, and bars

ITHACA, NY JUNE 9, 2021 —  Bite of Ithaca, an ultimate foodie experience featuring samplers and sips from restaurants and eateries in and around downtown Ithaca, is returning this month.

From June 14 through June 20, BITE guests can take their taste buds on a culinary journey by enjoying $5 tapas-sized food bites and $5 sips (in addition to regular menu items) at more than a dozen restaurants and eateries.

“BITE is our showcase of the robust and diverse dining scene that we are extremely fortunate to have in Ithaca. We expect all the participating restaurants will create delicious bites and sips that will impress attendees, and we are thrilled to welcome everyone to enjoy this extraordinary culinary exhibition,” says Allison Graffin, marketing director for the Downtown Ithaca Alliance (DIA).

Here are some of the BITES guests can look forward to:

The highly skilled chefs at Monks on The Commons, known for its soulful food and sinful cocktails, are preparing a mini feast of Bite options including oven-roasted cherry tomatoes & ricotta: garlic rosemary whipped ricotta & oven-roasted tomatoes served with crostini. Wash these items down with the special Bite beverage, Rkatsiteli, a light crisp, white wine.

Just down the street from Monks, Luna Inspired Street Food will be serving shrimp & corn Fritters dusted with hickory salt that will be served with smoked chipotle aioli, lemon wedge, cilantro while close by Kilpatrick’s Publick House, an upscale Irish pub featuring Irish-inspired and American cuisine, is serving shepherd’s pie loaded with beef and lamb that was stewed with onions and carrots, steeped in red wine and topped with mashed potatoes, Irish cheddar cheese, and toasted Panko.

When you’re ready for a truly sweet treat, you’ll want to stop by Sweet Melissa’s Ice Cream located in Short Stop Deli where you can pick up any of Sweet Melissa’s pint flavors. Plus, plenty more foods and sips will be part of this annual foodie affair.

Prior to starting your dining adventure, be sure to get your Bite Passport which provides information about the different cuisine and you can use it to collect stamps from the restaurants you visit. You can download one at downtownithaca.com or pick up one at any of the participating restaurants.

Once you complete your BITE journey, return your stamped passport to any one of the participating restaurants, or to the Downtown Ithaca Alliance to be entered for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to the participating Bite restaurant of your choice.

For a complete listing of Bite participants, their offerings, and more details about the passport, visit biteofithaca.com.
