Meet Scott Dolphin and Stephanie Hayes at Breathe

For some, clothes shopping is an unfavorable task, but it shouldn’t be. And, there are plenty of shops in Downtown Ithaca, such as Breathe, a women’s clothing and accessories shop, that make shopping enjoyable because the shopkeeps recognize that everyone can use a bit of retail therapy.

As a former resident of New York City; you know, that big city that never sleeps, Scott Dolphin, Breathe’s owner and general manager, understands the importance of taking a break from the daily hustle to shop for clothes that you’ll love. Plus, he believes people should have fun while they’re shopping.

“At Breathe, we feel there is comfort in beauty. We offer fashions for women of all sizes and all body types, and I simply enjoy the feeling I get when my customers find something to wear that makes them feel good about themselves,” says Dolphin.

At the women’s clothing store, Dolphin and the shop’s Store Manager Stephanie Hayes go above and beyond to ensure the customers have an enjoyable and hassle-free shopping experience. The pair offer exceptional customer service and they keep the shop extremely well organized and fully stocked with the most stylish and comfortable women’s apparel and accessories that money can buy including designs from Lucky Brand, NYDJ, Kut Jeans, CP Shades, Flax and Neon Buddha.

“The brands we carry are special because you can’t find them anywhere else in Central New York, and we offer them at reasonable prices,” says Dolphin.

Breathe has its storefront on the Commons pedestrian mall and will be celebrating its fifth year in business next Summer.

“Having a shop on the Commons is great. I enjoy seeing the daily activity here and being a part of a community that supports small businesses,” says Dolphin.

For his skilled eye for chic, trendy, and comfortable fashion, Dolphin is one of the community’s most well-respected fashion experts. Prior to opening Breathe, he was a longtime fashion and costume designer and interior designer for several elite New York businesses.

When Scott isn’t busy operating Breathe, he’s typically orchestrating events to help fundraise for local events such as Wizarding Weekend or for organizations such as the Cancer Resource Center or The Women’s Opportunity Center and Empire State College. He also dabbles in party planning.

As for Hayes, she loves spending time with her family, especially her young grandchildren.
